FAQs
Questions people actually ask.
Do I need a diagnosis to benefit?
Not at all. SSP is for anyone who wants more internal capacity — resilience, faster recovery, deeper presence. You don't need to be "broken" to benefit. Many clients are high-functioning people who simply want to feel less reactive and more grounded.
What does the music sound like?
Familiar popular and classical music, filtered through a patented algorithm that enhances the frequency range of the human voice. It sounds slightly different from the original tracks but remains pleasant and listenable.
Can I do SSP remotely?
Yes — all three sessions are on Google Meet. You access the music through the Unyte app on your phone or tablet with over-the-ear headphones. In-person is also available in the Orange County / Irvine area.
What do I need for Session 2 and beyond?
A desktop or laptop for Google Meet, a separate phone or tablet with the Unyte app, and over-the-ear headphones (no earbuds, no noise-cancelling, no bass boost). Session 1 is just a conversation — no tech needed yet.
What do I do during sessions?
Light, gentle activity — breathing, coloring, stretching, drawing. Nothing cognitively demanding. The goal is a relaxed but awake state. Having a calm person or pet nearby during home listening can enhance the experience.
How quickly will I notice a difference?
It varies. Some people notice shifts during or right after their first few sessions. Others experience more gradual changes — better sleep, more patience, faster bounce-back. Integration continues even after the 5 hours are complete.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Yes. SSP may be eligible for reimbursement through your HSA or FSA account. Many clients use their health savings cards to cover the investment. Check with your plan administrator for details.
Is this backed by research?
Yes. SSP research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Harvard Review of Psychiatry and Frontiers. Over 100,000 people in 70+ countries have completed the protocol. The underlying science — Polyvagal Theory — has been transforming how we understand the nervous system for decades.
